What am i buying from broad river blooms?

You are purchasing one dahlia tuber or small clump of dahlia tubers grown exclusively on our farm. We guarantee your dahlia tubers will have at least one actively growing eye/sprout, be firm and healthy.

We will never substitute your dahlia tuber without your permission. If we are unable to fill your order with the variety you ordered, we will notify you and promptly refund your money. We guarantee the dahlia tuber to be true to the cultivar listed on our website unless otherwise noted in the description.

IS YOUR FARM INSPECTED BY the DEPARTment OF AGRICULTURE?

Our farm is inspected by the Georgia Department of Agriculture and an inspection certificate is available upon request. All dahlia tubers are grown on our farm and we do not resell Dutch clumps.

HOW DO YOU CONTROL/PREVENT DISEASE ON YOUR FARM? DO YOU GUARANTEE AGAINST VIRUS?

We aggressively cull any suspicious plants and dispose of them in the trash along with the soil. We use a 10% bleach solution to sterilize our cutting tools after every single cut including while harvesting blooms and dividing dahlias. We spot test with AGDIA test strips for commons virus such as TSV and TSWV. We practice IPM (Integrative Pest Management) which includes routine spraying for common pests. We also focus on increasing the plants natural defenses by providing plenty of food and water which increases the BRIX value of the leaves making it less desirable to aphids, thrips and other sucking insects to attack. With that said, we do not guarantee that any of our dahlias are virus free. Dahlia virus can lay dormant and do not present symptoms until years after initial infection.

We do not allow order changes once your order is placed. You may place another order and we will combine shipping as long as we have not packaged and shipped your original order. We are unable to cancel or refund orders once they are placed.

WHY DID MY DAHLIA TUBERS DISAPPEAR FROM MY SHoPPING CART?

Many people may be shopping our website for tubers at the same time. Choosing “Add to Cart” is not a guarantee you get that tuber as another person may also add the same tuber to their cart and checkout before you.

To increase your chances of getting your must have varieties, make sure to add the items to your cart and check out as quickly as possible. You may then place additional orders for more tubers. This is the only way to help ensure the dahlia tubers you’ve added to your cart will be reserved for you.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO RECEIVE?

We carefully inspect and package your tubers in clear bags with vermiculite. The variety name (or initials) has been stamped on the tuber to help you keep track of your tubers at planting time. We also include a Dahlia Growing/Care Guide with your order.

what should I do when i receive my tubers?

When you receive your package, please open and inspect immediately. If you are not ready to plant your tubers, store them in a frost/freeze proof location with the bag open so they can breathe. Please do not store your tubers in the fridge (too risky) or in a hot/humid location.

If you believe there is an issue with your tubers, please email us (with detailed photographs) within 5 days of receipt of your package at broadriverblooms@gmail.com.

Tuber shape and size varies greatly based on the variety of the dahlia tuber. A tuber the size of a AA battery will grow just as well as a tuber the size of a giant Idaho potato. Upon planting, please be patient. It can take up to 8 weeks to see your dahlia tuber sprout and grow above the soil.

Overwatering when the tuber has not yet sent up a sprout above ground can cause it to rot. Please do NOT be tempted to overwater in the early growth period. If you are experiencing drought conditions, make sure to keep the soil slightly moist.

Dahlia tubers do not like to be hot, dry nor very cold and wet at the start of their growing season. They do need moisture…just not too much as they begin growing.

DO YOU GUARANTEE YOUR TUBERS?

We have taken the utmost care in growing, dividing and storing our dahlia tubers. We guarantee the dahlia tubers have at least one visible eye/sprout. We check our tubers many times prior to shipping to ensure they are healthy. It is possible that the eye/sprout will accidentally break off in shipping, or that it breaks off when you open the package. Dahlias will send up new growth and will grow fine.

Upon arrival, if you believe there is an issue with your tubers, please email us (with detailed photos) within 5 days of receipt of your package at lori@broadriverblooms.com. Once you’ve received your tubers, it’s your responsibility to store, plant and care for your dahlias. This also includes if you choose to use your tubers for taking cuttings.

Every person’s climate and soil type is different so it is very important you learn what works in your individual environment. A basic Dahlia Growing/Care Guide is provided with your order to assist you in growing and caring for your dahlias.
